Project Management

Project Management concerns the active, day to day running of a new building project from inception through to completion. It follows that it would be on behalf of a developer or an owner/occupier.

Buildings are rarely standard and must be tailored to the particular site as well as the customer’s own needs. It is important that the Project Manager is appointed as early as possible in the process in order that he can have a positive influence on the scheme from the outset. It will be his vision and drive which keeps the project momentum on track and he must be given the client’s full authority and support for a successful outcome.

Lee Baron Project Manage

The process of design and construction is a long and searching one. Unfortunately any change of mind will usually mean revisiting work already completed and even at the design stage this has significant implications for cost and programme. It is important that a Project Manager with an extensive track record and a rounded experience is employed as this will safeguard against many of the pitfalls. As the Building Consultancy arm of a broadly based Chartered Surveying practice our Project Managers have a significant breadth of knowledge and experience. They are often qualified in more than one discipline and are used to working with other disciplines on a day to day basis, knowing their strengths and weaknesses intimately. In this way our Project Managers can pull together the range of skills available in the project team and engineer the best outcome for the client.

At the outset we will take a Brief from the client to establish the key objectives for the project. From this we will establish a broad strategy for the development and a master programme. Closely allied to this will be suggestions for the procurement procedures to be adopted together with budgetary and cash flow advice. We will work with the client to select a design team and oversee their appointments. We will chair the design team meetings and monitor the design process, monitoring the production information, detailed drawings and specifications. This high level of detailed involvement continues throughout the tendering and construction phases. Our overall aim will be to ensure the building is constructed to Institutional standards and is free from significant defects to meet your objectives.
