The impact of Brexit on investment in UK commercial property

The latest RICS UK Commercial Property Market Survey seems to present a rather grim picture as demand for investment has fallen and confidence seems to be wavering following the EU referendum vote. The report shows that investment enquiries have plunged into negative territory, from +25% in Q1 to -16% in Q2 of 2016: the most severe quarter-on-quarter downturn in investment demand to date. Meanwhile, occupiers have also been affected by the current economic and political uncertainty, with demand remaining stagnant, following a 21% rise in Q1, before the vote.

Lee Baron staff raise some dosh for gosh

Staff at Lee Baron have raised £746 for GOSH, the Evening Standard’s Christmas appeal for sick children being cared for at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Staff raised the money through a homemade cake sale, raffle, and Lee Baron’s customary Christmas Jumper Day.

Jonathan Tucker CIMA, MBA and Robert Kennedy have both joined Lee Baron from CBRE. 

Jonathan Tucker is appointed Client Accountant Team Leader and has more than 12 years’ experience working for both UK and international companies, successfully leading the financial function of client property portfolios.   His clients will include Kennedy Wilson Europe, who Lee Baron were appointed by earlier this year to manage part of the £503m UK portfolio acquired from Aviva, and Apollo Global Management.

After graduating with his MBA, John joined McKinsey, followed by Executive Director positions with Amey Roadstone and Charterhouse Bank. In 1985, he was appointed CEO of Valin Pollen, a corporate and financial communications consultancy. From 1990 to 1996 he built IDOM, a banking/IT consultancy sold to Deloitte & Touche.

John has a BSc Hons from Manchester University and an MBA from London Business School, where he is also a member of the Global Advisory Council.

Rob has also recently become a member of the RICS panel of Arbitrators.

Rob also provides asset management advice to a number of private clients on asset’s ranging from shopping centres through to individual shops.

Rob has been with Lee Baron for over 25 years and has a number of distinct roles within the company operations.

Following a year at Robinson Somerston, Howard re-joined Lee Baron in 2002 to specialise in shopping centre professional work and is currently instructed to handle the rent reviews and lease renewals on a numbers of shopping centres across the UK for clients including CBRE Global Investors (Previously ING), Capital & Regional (The Mall), Frogmore, F&C Reit and Crownway,

Howard was awarded the title of Retail Consultant of The Year 2008 by The Mall Corporation

Jonathan is a Director and Deputy Head of Property Management, with over 15 years’ experience in the commercial property industry. 

John has developed a sound track record in all aspects of portfolio and property management covering a range of sectors but now specialising in Industrial Warehousing and Logistics Parks.

He spent his earlier years working for the property arm of a shipping conglomerate, Bidcorp Plc., following which he has  worked for some larger surveying practises - Cushman & Wakefield, GVA Grimley prior to joining Lee Baron.

During his career he has  developed very good relationships  with various blue chip clients such as:- BAPTL (British Airways Pension Trustees Ltd), The Wellcome Trust, The Co-Operative Insurance Society (CIS), Moorfield Group and most recently F & C REIT Asset Management.
